REMOVAL OF TWO DANGEROUS ENGLISH OAK TREES IN RYNEVELDT STREET, STELLENBOSCH

Dear business/ property owner,

Please note there are dangerous oak trees in the vicinity of your property. The Municipality is currently procuring a service provider to attend to the removal of these trees.

In, essence the trees have structural integrity issues, caused by brown rot infestation. Over time this brown rot has ingressed to such an extent that the structural integrity of the trees is in doubt. Brown rot breaks down the cellulose in the timber, which is responsible for flexibility in the wood. Resultant proof is that vertical cracks are now seen in the sap wood and bark. With no cellulose, the tree is at risk of snapping under load, such as a gusty wind. With this in mind, and secondary issues such as the area has a very high foot traffic and vehicular traffic, the decision to remove these two trees has been taken.

It must be noted that the whole team at Community Services values the tree heritage of the town, but the safety of residents, students and visitors has to take precedence over other issues.

VERWYDERING VAN TWEE GEVAARLIKE AKKER BOME TE RYNEVELDTSTRAAT, STELLENBOSCH

Geagte besigheid/ eiendomseienaar,
