Geraldine Mettler - Municipal Manger
We are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached between all stakeholders, regarding the unrest in Kayamandi.
The Sheriff, SAPS, municipal officials, community leaders and representatives from the Human Rights Commission were present for the discussion and agreement.
The Kayamandi stakeholders have agreed that no further land invasions will take place and that no new structures will be erected. The Municipality has agreed that service delivery to the area will return to normal.
It was further agreed that talks on the way forward will continue on Monday, 13 August 2018 and an agenda for Monday’s discussions has been agreed upon. Discussions will include the land interdict and the role of the municipality in the land issue.
All parties agreed that if the conditions are not adhered to, the full extent of the law will be enforced.
We are pleased that service delivery to Kayamandi can now resume.
