During National Transport Month, the Stellenbosch Municipality will embark on several initiatives, aimed at creating awareness and providing solutions to traffic congestion and other transport challenges experienced in the municipal area.
The following activities will take place in the week of 19 - 26 October 2018:
· A Pilot Park and Ride Scheme in collaboration with Mellow Cabs. The Municipality will provide parking facilities just outside the Central Business District (CDB) with Mellow Cabs providing a feeder shuttle service into the CDB.
· An exhibition / information session held in the Library Hall on 19 October, where transport stakeholders are offered the opportunity to showcase their products and services. A platform will be provided for:
o Stellenbosch University
o Stellenbosch Cycling
o Public Transport Operators
o Ride-sharing services and applications.
· Promotion of cycling and walking as a viable mode of transport by:
o Restricting parking in Church Street, during periods of low demand, increasing usable and accessible spaces for pedestrians and cyclist.
o Collaborating with Stellenbosch Cycling, promoting cycling in and around town.
